Corporate communications templates for in-house teams
Last updated: November 2026. Published by Beltway Media.
These five free corporate communications templates give an in-house team a ready structure for planning, messaging, stakeholder mapping, crisis holding statements and reporting.
Beltway Media publishes these templates so in-house communications teams can work faster and more consistently, with or without outside help. Each one is plain text: copy it into the document tool you already use. They follow the same structure Beltway Media uses when building a communications strategy.

How should we use these templates?
Start with the one-page plan, because every other template depends on its goals and audiences. Then build the messaging house, and use the stakeholder map and holding statement for specific announcements or risks. The monthly report closes the loop with leadership.
Templates replace blank pages, not judgment. If your team has nobody senior to decide positions and priorities, read about fractional chief communications officer support or the communications strategy consulting process.
One-page communications plan
Use this to align leadership on goals before any campaign, or to brief a consultant before a first call.

Common questions
- Can templates replace a communications consultant?
- Templates replace blank pages, not judgment. They help a team work consistently and faster, which is why this guide publishes them free. They cannot tell you which position to take, how a board will react or what to say when facts are incomplete. That senior judgment is what consulting provides. More in the FAQ
- Is this guide useful for a one-person communications team?
- Yes. The templates and checklists in this guide are written so a single communicator can use them without extra software. A one-person team often benefits most from outside senior counsel too, because it has nobody internal to pressure-test strategy. That is the gap a fractional chief communications officer is meant to fill. More in the FAQ
- What should we prepare before a strategy session?
- Bring your top three business goals for the next year, a list of your key audiences, recent examples of your messaging, a summary of who does communications today and any upcoming high-stakes moments. The one-page plan template in this guide is a quick way to organize these before the call. More in the FAQ
- What are the 3 C’s of communication?
- The 3 C’s of communication are most commonly cited as clear, concise and consistent. Clear means the audience understands the point the first time. Concise means nothing is wasted. Consistent means the same message holds across channels and spokespeople. Some trainers swap in credible or compelling, so check which version a course uses. More in the FAQ
- Where can I find free communications checklists?
- This guide publishes free checklists for announcements, spokesperson preparation, AI content review, crisis readiness and quarterly reviews. Beltway Media’s main website also offers a free Startup Communications Checklist and a Cybersecurity Communications Checklist, along with quick guides on startup communications and messaging.
